The Language Self-Access Centre (LSAC) at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology, New Zealand

Over 1,600 International students from more than 50 different countries. Approximately
1000 students in the
Purpose
The main purpose is to
encourage autonomous language learning. The LSAC provides language support to
students and staff for whom English is an additional language.
Features
Facilitated learning
opportunities, drop-in times, language lab and computer suite dedicated for
language learning. All English language classes are scheduled for 1 hour per
week in the LSAC.
Facilities
and materials
CD ROMs, DVDs and
audio CDs, language computer programs, newspapers, radio & TV news course
books, worksheets, listening packs, readers, dictionaries, NZ English materials
and information about life in NZ, English for Specific Purposes, English for
Academic Study, IELTS and Cambridge examinations. The LSAC also offers some
resources for other languages than English.
