Independence, Issue 41 (Summer/Autumn 2007)

LASIG Newsletter

From the Editor

In this slightly delayed ‘Summer’  issue, we feature reports from three conferences:  the
Aberdeen IATEFL conference, the LA SIG event in May in Warwick, and a conference on
Lifelong Learning in Taiwan.  We also have a piece by Jenny Timmer recalling her years as
coordinator of the SIG (the second in our series investigating the SIG’s history in its twenty-
first birthday year), and there are final reports on the autonomy worms which were let out of
their can last spring (look out for reports of new worms on our website –
www.learnerautonomy.org – and in the next issue of Independence). We also have reviews of three new books from Authentik, along with our regular features Self-Access around the
World, and Learning Matters. Many thanks to Androulla Athanasiou for her help with
formatting for the present issue. We hope to get another issue out before the end of the year, and your own contributions are, as ever, very welcome!
