Independence, Issue 38 (Summer 2006)

LASIG Newsletter

From the Editor

This is a bumper issue, thanks to the hard work of the LA SIG committee and generous contributions from colleagues around the world. Befitting the recent name change of the SIG from ‘Learner Independence’ to ‘Learner Autonomy’, this issue features several articles which address the issues of what autonomy ‘is’ (or isn’t) and why it’s important. Practical concerns aren’t neglected however, and are likely to be even more strongly emphasised in future issues. Do keep sending in your articles and news (how to contribute)! Also, as you’ll see from the Coordinators’ messages on the next page, now is a great time to (re)join and become active in the  SIG if you’re not already a member.
